History

Obviously, the basic word AmeriCAN® has a special historic significance to all of us, regardless of the arrangement of letters, capitalizations and colors. A special individual who is far less known created the design or trademark some twenty plus years ago for a specific purpose. This new design of our most patriotic symbol was examined and determined after much review to be in compliance with the requirements of the law; and with the regulations prescribed by the Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This mark was used on a variety of merchandise for significant private, educational and not for profit functions.

In 1796 during George Washington's Farewell address, the president said "The name American, which belongs to you in your national capacity, must always exalt the pride of patriotism more than any appellation."

It is therefore very significant and no coincidence that the individual who created this new appellation from our most basic patriotic symbol is the same person whose training methods and designs help protect us all today! He was chosen and was responsible in creating the operational and training plans including the authority jurisdiction and communication between the FBI, the State Department and and the military to counter terrorists worldwide. He has authored more than a dozen books, manuals, instructors guides and training circulars and consistently designed strategies to help educate and train personnel to protect us all, including children from harm.

Years ago, he was invited to the White House and again to Blaire House but could not convince the staff or the administration at that time of its value to counter the drug violence and culture. It was his belief that the symbolic value of the word American and of his design would unite all and put fear in our most menacing foe. The outpouring of patriotism after 9 – 11, and all the manufacturing of the patriotic symbols and colors that helped unite this country and lift our spirit only confirmed his strategy.

After 9 -11 he could have become extremely wealthy if he licensed the mark in fact a licensing agent was shocked when he did not offer it for use on products.

His decision was to maintain the positive aspect of our greatest patriotic symbol by not allowing anything negative to be associated with the word AmeriCAN®

Therefore, the individual(s)/organization(s) that have been chosen to receive this award are truly special for their own unique contribution in making society and those around them a better place to live.

Those celebrities, news media and talk show hosts, including all the producers have contributed to the overall mental health and well being of the general public by the portrayal of specific segments, topics and/or just their personal commentary.

Those members of the military, fire, emergency services, and those who administer the laws are recognized for their individual patriotism and volunteering for a career to protect others.
